I offer my heartfelt congratulations on the opening of the 3rd Okinawa International Movie Festival. I have developed a special relationship with this Okinawa International Movie Festival, having served as Jury President at both the 1st and 2nd festivals in 2009 and 2010. Since the great spirit and purpose of Okinawa International Movie Festival give me inspiration, I have wanted to attend the festival every year, even as a volunteer.

Last year I retired from my position as Chairman of the Pusan International Film Festival, and now serve as Emeritus Chairman of the festival. I am very pleased to be invited for the 3rd time to attend the Okinawa International Movie Festival despite my retired position.

I have no doubt that the many guests and visitors to the Okinawa International Movie Festival will enjoy the festival just as much as I will. I deeply hope that during the course of the festival we will be able to enjoy a wonderful time together.
