It is my heartfelt delight to welcome the opening of the 3rd Okinawa International Movie Festival of 2011.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to all those involved for their tremendous efforts that have made this festival possible. Beginning with Naha’s main street Kokusai-Dori, Shintoshin and the Sakurazaka Theater welcome you all as the Festival’s secondary venues again this year.

The slogan of Naha City is “Have a fun life than a better life”, so we hope many from within and outside Okinawa will come to view the variety of wonderful movies and attractions, and thoroughly enjoy the OIMF under the main theme of “Laugh & Peace”.

Finally, I would like to close with my sincerest wishes for the success of the 3rd OIMF and that the spirit of laughter and peace will continue to spread from Okinawa to the rest of the world.
